Off Beat Meaningful Films Or High Budget Hogwash Films ?

What Is The Success Mantra For the Indian Cinema ?

What is the key to success, is there any formula or just hard work and dedication ? Is content more important to Structure ? Lets compare it to Film making business - what do you think makes a film A Hit or A Flop ? Is it the big star cast and beautiful locations or just a well written script and a good direction. Such questions popped up, while I was reading a film review of " Phas Gaye Re Obama " on the website : nextbollywood.com
http://www.nextbollywood.com/2010/12/phas-gaye-re-obama-movie-review-by.html

Phas Gaye Re Obama is an example of the substantial off beat cinema, that is ruled out by the outstanding performances,  powerful script and excellent direction. This film is a slap on the face on the film makers, who think that their audience is a fool and has the least idea about film making. They think that just by putting up a few sensual item numbers, big star-cast, foreign locations will make their audience neglect the loop holes of the script. Alas, that is not truth; films like - Ravana, Blue, Kidnap, Jhoom Barabar Jhoom Sharabi proves that only a high budget is not the key to success but a showcase to their locked mentalities. On the other hand films like - Peepli Live, Tere Bin Laden, Khosla Ka Ghosla, owe their success only to a well written script.

There is a myth in the Hindi Film Industry- Myth about the key to success - INSPIRATION or in other words - COPY. When you are unable to produce a fresh and original script, borrow it from your neighbour. Copy it from Tollywood, Hollywood, Foreign Language Films and produce it with your name. Well that is the  success formula, Bollywood has been following since decades. Such film makers bring a shame not just to the film Industry but also to our nation. We are being popular worldwide, not for our incredible film making skills but for our incredible copying skills.

We want Film Makers..not fancy cake BAKERS !
